The Optical Science and Engineering Program (OSEP) is an exciting interdisciplinary graduate program designed to meet the demand for individuals who have a thorough familiarity with optics and photonics combined with graduate training in Chemistry/Biochemistry, Physics, or Electrical and Computer Engineering. Students who complete this intensive program will graduate with both a PhD degree from one of the participating departments and a Certificate in Optics. A Master's option is also available.

OSEP offers an annual stipend, full tuition, and insurance. OSEP, as a program and small part of the first-class optics research being carried out at CU Boulder, is only accepting a limited number of applications at this time. However, funding opportunities for graduate studies in Optical Science and Engineering are available through the departments of Physics, Chemistry and Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Research opportunities for optics-minded students abound at the University of Colorado at Boulder! Although OSEP is no longer accepting applications, there are many other opportunities to study optics on campus. In particular you can take a look at the interdisciplinary Computational Optical Sensing and Imaging (COSI) program , an active IGERT-funded program on campus. You can also contact the Graduate School or Department that will be your focus (Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, or Physics) to investigate other opportunities in detail.

OSEP is funded through the Integrative Graduate Education and Research Traineeship (IGERT) initiative of the National Science Foundation.
