Steve Bosley is a product of Nebraska’s Cozdal high school and a 1968 graduate of Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado Boulder. In 2003, CU Boulder awarded him an Honorary Doctorate. He served as a CU Regent for 12 years and chaired the presidential search committees which chose former CU Presidents Hank Brown in 2005, Bruce Benson in 2008. He worked in Colorado’s banking and finance industry for more than 35 years and was the President of the Bank of Boulder for 23 years. He received the Alumni Lifetime Service Award – Leeds School; Esprit Entrepreneur Lifetime Achievement Award, Boulder Chamber; Rocky Mountain region Entrepreneur of the Year; Boulder County Business Hall of Fame; and Boy Scouts of America, Distinguished Citizen of the Year.

He is the founder and current advisor for the world-renowned BolderBOULDER 10K road race, the greatest 10K in America. He was inducted into the Running USA Hall of Fame, Colorado Running Hall of Fame, and the Boulder Sports Hall of Fame. He was the senior referee for the men’s and women’s marathons at the 1996 Olympics. He coached youth soccer, basketball and Odyssey of the Mind, and was a Boy Scouts volunteer and advisor.

In addition to being an accomplished leader, Steve is a lifetime supporter of the U.S. Military, and specifically the Army ROTC program at the University of Colorado Boulder (Golden Buffalo Battalion). Steve has led or advised the BolderBOULDER Memorial Day celebration for nearly 30 years, always ensuring a dignified event. He was careful and diligent in growing the ceremony to emphasize and educate the community about the true meaning of Memorial Day - to honor the 1.5 Million American servicemembers who have lost their lives in defense of our nation. The ceremony is now one of the largest in the nation, with nearly 70,000 attendees (in person and on live TV). Steve is also always willing to support Cadets, whether it is visiting classrooms or providing a scholarship to ensure Cadets can excel at Boulder even without the 4-year ROTC scholarship. Steve has been active behind the scenes at CU Boulder, ensuring the University honors its commitment to support our future military leaders.

Perhaps most importantly, though, Steve is a man of unquestionable character and integrity. He lives his values on a daily basis. He is guided by a strong belief to do what is right regardless of how that might affect him. In this respect, Steve is a leader all Cadets, non-commissioned officers and officers should look to and seek to emulate. He personifies the type of leader the Golden Buffalo Battalion seeks to develop to lead our Soldiers.
