Profile
He became interested in the history of Jain and Hindu communities in India in the early 1970s as constructed using archaeological inscriptions, texts and oral traditions. He finished his PhD in Electrical Engineering in 1978 and joined SUNY Binghamton as an assistant professor of Computer Science. He is now a Professor of Computer Science at Colorado State University. He created the world's first website on Hindi language in 1996. He has published widely in testing, reliability and security for computer systems.
His research interests include history and demography of Jain and selected Hindu and Buddhist communities, interaction among diverse Indian traditions, survival of minority communities, applicability of Jain principles within the modern society, and Jain diaspora.
