The Information Clearinghouse is the nucleus of the Center. It provides a central location through which violence-related information is collected, evaluated, stored, and disseminated. Currently the Information Clearinghouse focuses on the collection and evaluation of research and information concerning youth violence, since the adolescent years are critical years during which serious violent behavior is initiated, peaks and then dramatically declines.
The Information Clearinghouse's primary means of disseminating information is through bibliographic searching services which utilize unique databases developed by CSPV. The Information Clearinghouse serves the national public much like a clearinghouse. However, instead of providing copies of documents to the public, CSPV provides state-of-the-art bibliographies. Free customized topical searches from all CSPV databases are available online.
