Senator, School of Education Student Government

Kendall is a Junior studying Elementary Education with a minor in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. She joined student government to help create a space that allows all students to flourish within and without being a student at CU Boulder. In addition, she joined to work alongside other like-minded students to give a space that allows for creativity and leadership to thrive. Kendall loves being involved in the School of Education and she hopes to continue to make a difference once she graduates. She hopes to become an educator in an elementary school with a focus on literacy intervention, but her dream grade to teach is Kindergarten. In the future, Kendall has a desire to venture into education policy to help create and drive positive changes in our school systems by using her past experiences in the classroom and her passion for leadership to allow for our school systems to be more inclusive, equitable and a better environment for teachers and students of all backgrounds. Kendall currently holds a lot of leadership positions on our CU Boulder campus. More specifically, she is a student-teacher facilitator with Elementary Arts labs and they work to bring science and movement into classrooms. In addition, she is an undergraduate liaison and a TA for LING 4630 and LING 1900 for the Literacy Practicum that is run through the Linguistics department. That program helps brings college students into a variety of communities to help enhance and make literacy more fun for elementary students. Kendall also is one of two current SOESG senators and also has a seat representing the School of Education for the larger CU Student Government. In her senator position, she is excited to work on some pieces of legislation that revolves around helping and supporting future educators at CU and at the state level! Outside of school, she loves to go hiking, running, exploring coffee shops and spending time with her friends! She is so excited for this upcoming year and can’t wait to see everyone's smiling faces on campus this year! SKO BUFFS!
