Co-President, School of Education Student Government

Maia is a senior double majoring in English and political science, with a minor in education. Previously, she was on the Secondary Humanities teaching track, where she found her passion for education advocacy and policy. Maia co-founded the School of Education Student Government in the fall of 2022 to create a platform for education-minded students to develop community, engage with local support and political networks, and advocate campus-wide for the School of Education. Maia is pursuing a career at the intersection of international development and education. She has conducted transnational research on education as a decolonizing tool, taught creative writing workshops to Nepali middle school students, and now works with the Denver Public Schools Foundation to address financial inequities in the school district.

In her free time, Maia loves to read and write beside the Boulder Creek, sing and dance with her friends, check out Boulder’s hiking trails and coffee shops, and travel. She is a proud Education Buff, and can’t wait to see what this year holds.
