Prof. Kira Hall of the Department of Linguistics was recognized as Distinguished Professor on Thursday at the April 27 meeting of the University of Colorado Board of Regents in Denver.  As stated on the commendation plaque, Prof. Hall was awarded the title of Distinguished Professor in November 2022 in recognition of "her outstanding contributions to the University of Colorado and the field of linguistics.” After being introduced by Chancellor Phil DeStefano of the University of Colorado Boulder, Prof. Hall delivered a short speech on the importance of linguistic work on identity for understanding our social world. She was joined by four other University of Colorado faculty members receiving the designation: Prof. Ron Sokol (Anschutz), Prof. Karolin Luger (Boulder), Prof. Leysia Palen (Boulder), and Prof. Carolos Paz de Araujo (UCCS).
