College of Architecture and Planning

For people intrigued by the complexities of designing buildings and landscapes and planning communities.

Program: You will begin the program as a Bachelor of Environmental Design student. Once you complete the lower-division core courses, you will choose a specialized area of concentration: Architecture, Planning and Urban Design, or Design Studies.

Facilities: Undergraduate facilities are located on the Boulder campus in the Environmental Design Building. They include a visual resource center, an urban simulation laboratory, a model/paint/wood shop, and computer laboratories with 3-D modeling, photo-imaging, and computer-aided design (CAD) capabilities.

Hands-on Learning: A mentorship program pairs outstanding upper-division students with practicing professionals (many are CU alumni) in the fields of architecture, landscape architecture, and planning.

Faculty: Architecture and Planning faculty members excel in their respective fields and have been honored with prestigious awards, honors and invitations to preeminent academies and societies.

Highlights: Architecture and Planning students won the first two international Solar Decathlon competitions in 2002 and 2005. Students also won the national Urban Land Institute Design competition in 2005. The College of Architecture and Planning is Colorado's sole source for architecture and planning education.
