Transportation and Parking
Transportation
In Boulder, both citizens and the city are committed to alternative transportation.
Many students take advantage of the mild Boulder climate and use a bicycle
to get to class and around town. For public transportation you can choose
from the campus buses, the Regional Transportation District (RTD) bus
system, or the HOP, SKIP, JUMP, LEAP, DASH, STAMPEDE, and BOUND local
Boulder shuttles.
The RTD serves the Boulder-Denver metropolitan area,
including Denver International Airport. Your student fees pay for a bus
pass each semester, which means that a ride on any local Boulder RTD bus,
or one in the metropolitan area that originates or ends in Boulder, is
free. To take advantage of the free bus system, you must have a Buff OneCard
and your university-issued, personalized RTD sticker. Only students who
have paid full fess are issued the RTD sticker. For more information go
to www.buffonecard.com.
Parking
Campus lots require a permit, which may be purchased on a space available
basis. Semester permit rates for the 2002-03 academic year (August-May)
range from $178.50 to $289. Fall semester rates (August-December) are
from $l89.25 to $144.50. Rates are based upon resident or commuter status
and assigned parking location. Motorcycle, moped, and scooter permits
cost $38.25 per semester or $76.50 for the academic year regardless of
lot location. Permit sales begin three days before the start of classes
at the Coors Events Center.
Metered parking is available throughout campus for $1.00
per hour, and must be paid from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. seven days a week.
The Euclid Autopark, east of the UMC, offers short-term parking between
7:30 a.m. and midnight daily.
For more information on permit sales and parking on campus,
see ucbparking.colorado.edu.
