The Norlin Scholars Program accepts 20-30 academically outstanding undergraduates each year. The program offers scholarships, special courses, research opportunities, advising, mentoring and community-building activities. Norlin students enrich and customize their undergraduate experiences through close interaction with faculty and peers from all majors on campus.

Expected Academic Preparation for Undergraduate Transfer Students

College of Architecture and Planning
Preference is given to students who have taken college-level courses in the areas of architecture, planning, or environmental studies. Completed courses in related fields of social science, natural science, fine arts, or humanities are also considered in admission review.

College of Arts and Sciences
Preference is given to students who have completed appropriate general education classes.

College of Engineering and Applied Science
Transfer applicants must have taken courses relevant to an engineering curriculum (with at least one year of college-level calculus and two semesters of either calculus-based physics and/or college-level chemistry). Chemical engineering applicants should have completed two semesters of college chemistry.

College of Music
All entering undergraduate music majors must submit both the International Student Application for Admission to the Office of Admissions and the audition application to the College of Music. For further information regarding eligibility see www.colorado.edu/music.

Leeds School of Business
Students must have completed one semester of linear algebra, or finite math, or calculus. Other preferred courses include macroeconomics, microeconomics, and business computer-related courses. The Leeds School of Business does not admit students who already have completed an undergraduate degree. Students interested in business who have already earned a bachelor's degree in any field are encouraged to apply for admission to a graduate business program.

School of Journalism and Mass Communication
A minimum of one year (30 semester hours) of appropriate college-level course work completed or in progress, including journalism course prerequisites (Contemporary Mass Media, and Critical Thinking and Writing at CU-Boulder, or the equivalents at another institution) is required. If you do not have the required hours or prerequisites, you should apply to the prejournalism and mass communication major in the College of Arts and Sciences.

Transferring from U.S. Institutions
Students transferring from U.S. institutions should meet the competitive grade point average (GPA) guidelines listed below. Meeting these guidelines is not a guarantee of admission, and other criteria may be considered, including successful completion of prerequisite courses. In a year when a large number of qualified students apply for transfer, competitive GPA guidelines may be higher than those listed, and other requirements may vary.

College or School Competitive Cumulative GPA
(on a 4.00 scale)
Architecture and Planning 3.00
Arts and Sciences 2.50
Business 3.00
Engineering and Applied Science 2.75
Journalism and Mass Communication 3.00
Music 2.75
