Step 2) Application Requirements

We must receive a complete application, all required credentials, and the application fee in order to consider your application. The information below outlines what graduate applicants must submit.

1. Online Application for Admission
Provide all information required, including your complete educational history. Missing information may delay or stop the processing of your application.

2. $70 nonrefundable Application Fee

  1. Credit card payment in the amount of $70 (U.S. funds) - ONLY for applicants using the online application. OR
  2. An international money order or a check drawn on a U.S. bank (do not send cash), made payable to the University of Colorado, in the amount of $70 (U.S. funds). We cannot accept cash with the application. Important: Print your full legal name and birth date on your check or money order.

3. Official Scores on the TOEFL or acceptable equivalent
You are not required to submit the TOEFL if:

  1. Your native language is English. OR
  2. You have completed at least one year of full-time study at a U.S. institution, or at an institution in a country where English is the native language, at the time you apply, and within two years from your desired admission term.

4. Official Scores on the GRE or the GMAT Test
GRE and GMAT requirements vary with individual departments. The college code for CU-Boulder is 4841 for both GRE and the GMAT. For information on the GRE, go to www.gre.org; for the GMAT, go to www.mba.com.

5. Official or Certified Copies of all College or University Records, if applicable
China-Every page of each document must bear an original stamp or seal of the institution. Students must submit transcripts and diplomas in both the native language and English and must submit separate diplomas showing every degree awarded.

India-Every page of each document must bear an original stamp or seal of the institution showing that it is attested by the registrar or appropriate school official. Students must submit individual mark sheets for each semester or year, and must submit separate diplomas showing every degree awarded.

Spain and all Latin American countries-must submit transcripts and diplomas in both the native language and English and, as appropriate, must submit the official Titulo or Grado/Grau diploma for every degree awarded.

Include any official transcripts, mark sheets, or grade reports, and any certificates, degrees, diplomas, or statements of graduation or completion from each college or university attended, regardless of the length of attendance, whether or not courses were completed, and whether or not you believe the record will affect your admission or transfer of credit. If you are currently enrolled, send all available records at this time, including courses in progress. Final records are required upon completion of the course work or program. All records should be submitted in the native language, and credentials written in languages other than English must also be accompanied by a literal, certified English translation.

6. Letters of Recommendation
Check with your program to determine the required number of recommendations. It is important that those recommending you evaluate your competence and potential as a graduate student.

7. Financial Statement and Required Documentation
If your application for admission is otherwise complete, it can be reviewed regardless of whether or not we have received your financial statement. If you are academically eligible for admission to the university and you need a Form I-20 (for an F-1 visa) or a Form DS- 2019 (for a J-1 visa), you must provide the financial statement with required documentation before your admission can be finalized and before any immigration forms can be issued to you.

8. Immigration Transfer Form, if applicable
If you hold an F-1 visa and are currently studying at another U.S. institution and plan to transfer to the University of Colorado at Boulder, you must complete the immigration transfer form. This form will be mailed to you upon admission to the university.
