The Academic Experience

At CU-Boulder, you can learn just about anything you want to know. Our seven undergraduate colleges and schools offer countless academic opportunities that will enhance your knowledge, prepare you for a career, challenge your intellect, and introduce you to brand-new thoughts and experiences.

Majors

Journalism Students
You will be able to choose from over 3,400 courses in over 150 areas of study taught by award-winning faculty members.

CU-Boulder offers 85 majors at the bachelor’s level, 70 at the master’s level, and 50 at the doctoral level. As a Boulder undergraduate student, you will be working toward a bachelor's degree and may enroll in a major in one of the following four colleges: architecture and planning, arts and sciences, engineering and applied science, or music, or the following three schools: business, education, or journalism and mass communication. Journalism Students
Forty-eight percent of all undergraduate course sections enroll under 20 students, and 85 percent enroll fewer than 50 students.

As a student at CU-Boulder, you will need to apply to one of the following:

You may apply to the School of Journalism and Mass Communication or the School of Education after you have completed appropriate work in another college or school.

Academic Opportunities

Journalism Students
The Honors Program offers about 80 courses per year for qualified students. These courses are limited in enrollment to approximately 15 students.
