About Student Affairs Diversity Committee
Charge: The Student Affairs Diversity Committee consults with the departments of the Division of Student Affairs in promoting and supporting a socially just community through education, advocacy, and accountability. We advise the vice chancellor for student affairs on action items, organizational development models, and strategies as we progress toward the division’s social justice goals.
The SADC offers resources and training to departmental diversity/ social justice advisory committees to assist in their efforts in building a socially-just campus community. Notice of upcoming training events for departmental diversity/social justice advisory committees will be communicated by the SADC chair to SA directors. These training events offer SA department committee chairs/members the opportunity to connect with other SA staff doing social justice work, to learn or refresh basic social justice language and concepts, and the forum to discuss challenges and successes committees have experienced as they work toward the common goal of social justice. The SADC plays an advisory role for student affairs departmental diversity/social justice advisory committees as well. Please contact us with questions, needs, issues, and we can strategize with you. We can play an advisory role with your committee, help network you with other student affairs resources, and help brainstorm around process issues or training needs you have in carrying out your diversity work.
