Ascending the Ice Cave

“This summer I participated in a traverse of the Juneau Icefield with the Juneau Icefield Research Program: 8 weeks of traveling over glaciers by ski and by foot from Juneau, Alaska to Atlin, British Columbia.

Along the way we participated in research by collecting data and learned to live and travel through the cryosphere. These ice caves are located near the end of the traverse and are remnants of a glacier. Stepping beneath the roof of ice was like walking into a magical world of stained glass. Glaciers hold a special place in my heart and are incredibly important to the global ecosystem.” Student Arts Program official selection 2020.
