The undergraduate degree in education studies is designed to engage students in a deep study of how political, cultural, social and historical dynamics shape educational policy and practice. This program does not include teacher licensure, but it prepares students for a broad range of careers, including education, research, policy and activism.

Academic Plan & Requirements

The undergraduate degree in education studies requires 9 credit hours of core coursework and 30 credit hours from a list of approved courses, three of which must include a community-engagement component. 

The curriculum is divided into four areas:

  • Educational foundations, policies and practices
  • Equity, bilingualism and biliteracy
  • Learning sciences and human development
