Students studying mechanical engineering gain expertise in design, manufacturing, mechanics and thermal sciences. Our students learn a broad set of skills and knowledge that can be applied to many different fields, from medicine to environmental science to robotics. The first two years of the program are taught by CMU faculty, and the second two years of engineering courses are taught by CU Boulder faculty who live permanently in Grand Junction.

Academic Plan & Requirements

Students interested in the partnership program should apply for admission to CMU directly as a first-year or transfer student. After about two years at CMU, students then apply to CU Boulder through an expedited admissions process.

Our objectives for students in the partnership program include:

The CMU partnership follows a similar hands-on curriculum to CU Boulder. Students complete a yearlong senior design project their final year.
