Sean PetersDr. Sean Peters is a new assistant professor in the Ann and H.J. Smead Department of Aerospace Engineering Sciences.

He comes to CU Boulder from the Department of Physics and Space Systems Academic Group at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA.

His research focuses on developing passive radar systems and signal processing techniques that use ambient radio emissions as signals of opportunity for Earth and planetary radar remote sensing.

Sean has also previously worked as a radar systems engineer in the Airborne Radar Systems and Techniques group at MIT Lincoln Laboratory (2020-2021) to develop and test active, bistatic, and passive radars for moving target indication, imaging, and RF convergence.

Sean completed his B.Sc. degree (cum laude) in electrical engineering from Rice University, Houston, TX, USA, in 2015, and both the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Stanford University, Stanford, CA, USA, in 2017 and 2020, respectively.

He has received the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship, Stanford's Diversifying Academia Recruiting Excellence Doctoral Fellowship, and the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Student Prize Paper Award (2019) and Symposium Prize Paper Award (2021) for his work on developing radar sounding techniques for terrestrial and planetary glaciology.
