Two CU Boulder aerospace students honored by Aviation Week

Aviation Week has announced two University of Colorado Boulder aerospace students as members of the "Class of 2024 20 Twenties Winners."

The program recognizes leading engineering students at universities across the USA and around the world who are "on course to change the face of the aviation, aerospace and defense industry."

CU Boulder's two winners are:

• Amrita Singh, PhD student (Advisor: Jim Nabity). Her research is focused on lunar habitat simulations and lunar dust mitigation strategies.
• David Dezell Turner, PhD student (Advisor: Jay McMahon). His research is in developing augmented reality tools for astrodynamics.

Both Singh and Turner are also 2023 National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program winners.

The Aviation Week 20 Twenties initiative recognizes students earning STEM degrees who are nominated by their universities on the basis of academic performance, civic contribution and research or design projects.

This year’s recognition program had 100 qualified nominees from 48 different universities. CU Boulder aerospace student have had strong representation in this program, with 26 honorees since its creation in 2013.

The winners will be honored in March during the Aviation Week Network’s 66th Annual Laureate Awards and Dinner at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C.
