Neelakshi Majumdar

Neelakshi is a Ph.D. candidate in the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Purdue University. Her research involves modeling General Aviation accidents involving fixed-wing aircraft. As part of her research, she focuses on investigating causes and human factors that lead to inflight loss of control accidents. She received her undergraduate degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from India. After working as a Programmer Analyst at Cognizant for two years, she came to the US in 2016 to pursue master’s and doctoral degrees in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from Purdue University. There, she received an opportunity to teach two undergraduate courses—Design Thinking in Technology and Introduction to Aerospace Design as part of a teaching fellowship. The satisfaction to see her students learn and progress made her realize her passion and talent for teaching. After completing her Ph.D., she wants to work in academia. Apart from academics, Neelakshi has also served as a board member in multiple organizations such as Aero Assist (Purdue’s graduate student organization), Asha Purdue (a non-profit voluntary organization), and Women in Engineering Program at Purdue University. Neelakshi is a student pilot with 71 flying hours and in her free time, she enjoys flying, swimming, painting, and traveling.
