Alumni Melanie Matteliano (MA 2020) accepts position with First Peoples Worldwide.
First Peoples Worldwide addresses the unique social and environmental impacts of development in Indigenous communities, while preparing current and future leaders to meet the pressing social responsibility challenges facing today's businesses. First Peoples is developing a business incubator to champion Native food sovereignty. Through the incubator, Native food suppliers and entrepreneurs will have access to tailored technical assistance to pivot their business plans, to create risk analysis scenarios, to plan strategically for integrating their product into the market, and to create plans for long-term resilience and success in the post-COVID food market. The long-term goal of this project is to harness this moment of economic repair to build new structures that amplify and support sustainable Native food systems for generations.
