Cal Young is a filmmaker whose work explores the entanglements among childhood, death, and the natural world. His practice is rooted in the belief that the purest, most unified experience between human and nature occurs only in childhood. He employs experimental approaches to invoke the nonlinear yet distinctly narrative quality of early, formative memory.
Cal grew up in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. After receiving his BA in Film and Media Studies from Washington University in St. Louis, he worked in commercial and feature film production in New York for three years. In 2021, he left NYC to produce his latest film, The Other Life.
