Victor Kebande

Victor R. Kebande (Researcher, ATLAS Institute & Computer Science, CU Boulder) is a Researcher and Assistant Professor of IT Security in the Secure Distributed Systems (SDS) group under the Department of Computer Science, Institutionen för Datavetenskap (DIDA), at Blekinge Institute of Technology (BTH), Karlskrona, Sweden. He earned his PhD in Computer Science with a specialization in Cyber and Information Security and Digital Forensics in 2018.

Dr. Kebande has been  a Visiting Researcher with the Security Research Group in the Department of Computer Science at Colorado State University, Fort Collins, USA. He previously served as an Excellent Postdoctoral Research Scientist at the Department of Computer Science, Electrical and Space Engineering, Luleå University of Technology, Sweden, under the Information Systems Research discipline. He also held a postdoctoral position at the Internet of Things and People (IoTaP) Center in the Department of Computer Science, Malmö University, Sweden. Additionally, Dr. Kebande contributed as a researcher with the Information and Computer Security Architectures (ICSA) Group and the DIgiFORS Research Group at the University of Pretoria, South Africa.

Dr. Kebande’s research is multidisciplinary and application-driven, focusing on cutting-edge challenges in cybersecurity, digital forensics, and critical infrastructure protection. His expertise encompasses IoT and IIoT security, digital forensics and incident response, cyber-physical system protection, cloud computing security, distributed system security, blockchain technologies, cybersecurity risk assessment, threat hunting and modeling, and privacy-preserving techniques and intersection of Cybersecurity, AI with immersive realities.

He is a member of prominent professional organizations, including the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), and the Institute of Information Technology Professionals South Africa (IITPSA). Dr. Kebande is also an Editorial Board Member for Forensic Science International: Reports and serves as a reviewer for multiple prestigious journals.

With an extensive portfolio of peer-reviewed journal articles and conference papers, Dr. Kebande’s contributions are recognized in leading academic and industry venues. His work bridges the gap between theoretical advancements and real-world applications, making significant strides in securing digital ecosystems and protecting critical infrastructure.
