This is a sample plan.  We recommend you work with your academic advisor to craft a personalized plan that best meets your graduation and career goals. 

First Year - Fall Semester

General Notes

  • Intro Bio Courses:  Students can pick any 2 of the following 4 options:
    • EBIO 1210 & 1230 (General Biology 1) - Offered Fall and Spring
    • EBIO 1220 & 1240 (General Biology 2) - Offered Spring and Summer 
    • EBIO 1100 & 1110 (Biology and Society) - Offered Fall, Spring and Summer
    • EBIO 1250 (Intro to EBIO Research) - Offered in the fall to incoming First Year and Transfer students. 
  • Ancillary Courses:  Choose 3 courses from a list in the course catalog/degree audit.  Options in: ATOC, CHEM, CSCI, GEOL, GEOG, MATH, PHYS
  • *Preparatory Courses for Ancillary Reqs. may be needed and should be planned for with an academic advisor.  Prep courses would count toward elective hours needed to graduate.
  • **EBIO Upper Division Courses.  These courses must include 6 hours of 4000 level EBIO and a lab course.  See degree audit for more information and choices of lab courses. 
  • ***Statistics is required. See degree audit for list of options.  Note: only certain stats courses will count towards the QRMS GE requirement.
  • **** EBIO 1020 is NOT required, but recommended. 
  • Health Professions Advisors:  Students who plan to pursue a health career or graduate school may need additional courses.  We recommend students work with Health Professions advisors and check the prerequisites of programs they plan to attend to ensure they are adequately prepared.

General Education (GE) and MAPS Considerations

  • This plan assumes you do not have any foreign language or MAPS deficiencies.  If those requirements have not yet been met, coursework needed to meet those requirements can count toward the elective hours needed to graduate.
  • The Natural Science Gen Ed requirement is covered by the EBIO major.
  • This plan assumes you will meet the A&S GE global and US diversity requirements with your Arts and Humanities or Social Sciences GE coursework.
  • It is possible to meet some of your Arts and Humanities/ Social Science GE courses with the EBIO major – Discuss with your academic advisor
  • Depending on stats and ancillary choices, a math course may be needed to meet the GE QRMS
  • There are EBIO writing classes that can count towards the A&S GE writing requirements if you chose to take them (EBIO 1940 and EBIO 3940)
