This one’s for all the single ladies—and gents. 

A rise of singles in the marketplace presents both an opportunity and a challenge for businesses, which will either adapt to a world where everything—from consumer trends and buyer behaviors, to working spaces and hours—must be rethought, or risk losing a large, growing swath of the population.

“Singles benefit from a positive message, a message of opportunity,” said Leeds professor Peter McGraw in the most recent episode of the Leeds Business Insights podcast. “What I want is for our organizations, employers, CEOs, entrepreneurs, salespeople, human resource managers to recognize, similarly, the opportunities in singles.”

McGraw has been studying the solo lifestyle and the changes it’s creating in business. He hosts singles meetups as well as a regular podcast, “Solo: The Single Person’s Guide to a Remarkable Life.”
