Feb. 26, 12-4 p.m.
The Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering (CEAE) is hosting a virtual career and internship fair through Handshake.
Students, there is no better time to find a job or internship than at the career fair! This event will capture most sub-disciplines within the CEAE department, including structural, electrical/lighting, mechanical, geotech, water resources and construction engineering & management.
This event is intended to provide all interested students information about opportunities with the participating companies in attendance. A list of companies/organizations will be available on Handshake prior to the event.

Kiewitt Design-Build Scholars Program

The Kiewit Design-Build Scholars Program is offers financial aid, industry mentorship, professional development events and a guaranteed internship with Kiewit Corportation. Freshman are eligible to apply, and accepted students can renew their spot each year until graduation. This program is an incredible opportunity to explore the civil engineering profession, engage with peers and access exclusive industry opportunities. Scholarships
NCSEA Diversity in Structural Engineering Scholarships
Application deadline: Feb. 16, 2025
Applications are now open for this year’s National Council of Structural Engineers Associations (NCSEA) Diversity in Structural Engineering Scholarships.
Last year, the NCSEA Foundation awarded $70,000 in scholarships to 25 students, with individual awards ranging from $3,000 to $5,000. These scholarships aim to support students historically underrepresented in structural engineering, including (but not limited to) Black/African Americans, Native/Indigenous Americans, Hispanic/Latino individuals, people with disabilities, veterans and members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

PAE Diversity in Engineering Scholarship
Application deadline: Feb. 23, 2025
PAE is offering a renewable $5,000 scholarship for undergraduate engineering students pursuing a degree in the US who are from marginalized backgrounds by ethnicity and/or gender, and are passionate about climate justice.
SEAC Scholarship Fund
Application deadline: March 7, 2025
The Structural Engineers Association of Colorado (SEAC) Scholarship Fund is awarding two $4,500 scholarships to U.S. citizens pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in civil or architectural engineering with an emphasis on structures. Scholarship funds are awarded directly to students and can be used for tuition, housing, books, transportation or other education-related expenses.

Schweiger Memorial Scholarship Fund
Apply by April 15, 2025
The SMSF Undergraduate Scholarship is open to high school seniors and college students with at least one full year left in undergraduate programs. The undergraduate scholarship is not open to individuals enrolling or enrolled in graduate or master's programs.
ACEC Research Institute Scholarships
The American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) Research Institute is the leading source of knowledge and thought leadership for creating a more sustainable, safe, secure, and technically advanced built environment. The Institute’s mission is to deliver information and business strategies that guide and elevate the engineering industry through research, forecasts, trend analysis and academic scholarships.
Through the ACEC Research Institute scholarship portal, qualified students have access to more than 100 scholarships totaling nearly $1 million in grants, including:
- A $5,000 NCEES Scholarship specifically for students from Colorado
- A variety of diversity and inclusion scholarships, including those for HBCUs
- Both merit-based and need-based opportunities
The portal will automatically match students with ALL scholarships available to them based on their completed application. Application deadlines vary, so students are encouraged to apply today!

Study Abroad! First-year AREN and CVEN students
There’s a study abroad program through ISA in Valencia, Spain, that’s perfect for fall of year two in civil and architectural engineering plans. Students can stay on track by taking thermodynamics, physics 2 + lab, calculus 3, and statics (all taught in English), along with a Spanish class at any level for HSS credit. If you’re interested, talk to your advisor! The application deadline for Fall 2025 is March 1.
Graduation and Summer 2025
Spring 2025 Graduation
The university commencement ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2025, 8:30 a.m. at Folsom Field stadium.
The Civil and Architectural Engineering ceremony will be held Noon - 3 p.m. in a large white tent on Engebretson Quad. This ceremony is for graduating AREN and CVEN BS, MS and PhD students along with their friends and family.
Interested in Summer classes?
The department is offering remote Maymester Analytical Mechanics 1 (CVEN 2121), and remote/ online hybrid Augmester Thermodynamics (AREN 2110), in Summer 2025. You will be able to see these courses in class search. Please contact your advisor if you're interested!
Summer Research Experience
The Environmentally Applied Refrigerant Technology Hub (EARTH) at the University of Kansas is currently accepting applications for a summer research experience for undergraduate engineers interested in sustainable technologies. This 10-week summer program is designed to immerse undergraduate students in the field of HVACR systems with a focus on sustainable refrigerants. Students will receive a $6,000 stipend plus room and board and $500 to cover travel. Housing will be provided for students on campus.
