The BUENO Center for Multicultural Education warmly welcomes our new Executive Director Dr. Tania Hogan to the family. Dr. Hogan brings a rich, 20 year history of advocacy and dedication for the educational prosperity of our culturally and linguistically diverse learners. 

BUENO Center Interim Executive Director and Literacy Squared Founder Dr. Kathy Escamilla shares her enthusiasm for BUENO’s newest family member. “Dra. Tania Hogan represents the next generation of leaders and visionaries in our field.  In the true tradition of BUENO, she is humble, yet able to speak out forcefully when needed.  She is passionate about the cause for social justice in education, and a well known and beloved educational leader in our state. She will honor BUENO’s past, while moving the Center to its next level of excellence and prominence.”

Dr. Hogan’s previous work includes serving as the Director of Undergraduate Student Success and Affiliate Faculty at the University of Colorado Denver, and over 16 years of experience in several roles with Denver Public Schools including bilingual ELA educator, reading interventionist, Literacy, Language and Cultural Studies Facilitator and Teacher Leader.

In anticipation of her near start date, Dr. Hogan explains, “I am most excited about collaborating with the BUENO familia and community to cultivate current programs that already have solid roots, while developing and creating new opportunities for us to explore collectively and bring about transformational change in pursuit of educational equity.  I look forward to doing work that “vale la pena” and humanizes, engages, sustains and empowers our communidad.”

Dr. Hogan received a BA Degree in Psychology, an MA in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Bilingual Education, and an EdD in Leadership and Educational Equity with an emphasis in Latin@ Learners and Communities - all from the University of Colorado Denver.
