Media and technology offer great potential to create positive change in the world. But all too often, they do the opposite by perpetuating systems of racism and inequality—in artificial intelligence, social media, movies and video games.

At CMCI, the Center for Race, Media and Technology leverages faculty and student thought leadership and insights to better understand how to redesign these systems to be more inclusive and representative of the everyday experiences of Black and Indigenous people of color. Faculty affiliated with the center study the biases baked into technology platforms, mass media, design processes and scientific practice, and inspire students to think critically about the tools they use and content they create and consume.
