Benjamin Gomado is a graduate student pursuing a Global Engineering Graduate Certificate at the Mortenson Center in Global Engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder. Benjamin worked with a Solar PV firm called SunPower Innovations Limited as a Solar PV Designer & Technical Site Engineer Intern. In this role, he designed various off-grid, grid-tied and hybrid Solar PV Systems for commercial, residential, and government installations. He worked as a Content Developer with Practical Education Network, an NGO that seeks to improve learning outcomes by building teacher capacity. He also volunteered as a STEM tutor with BASIC INTERNATIONAL, an NGO that is a global community-based intervention program, promoting literacy, economic empowerment, health, wellness, and social inclusion. He currently works as a Technical & Controls / Automations Trainee Engineer with Sewerage Systems Ghana Limited, an organization that seeks to provide efficient, sustainable, and environmentally friendly treatment of liquid waste in Ghana and beyond. He does consultancy for households and individuals for Solar PV design and Installation on a part-time basis.
Benjamin is interested in affordable and clean energy access. He believes that access to sustainable, renewable energy is crucial in ensuring that communities and countries develop in a manner that protects our environment and empowers the various sectors of society. He has a passionate desire for climate-change resilience and is also interested in equitable distribution of clean water and sanitation as well as policy regulation. In his free time, Benjamin loves singing and playing gospel music, playing drums and piano, reading about innovations, working out, and eating good food.
