Environmental Engineering

Kathleen Kirsch is a PhD student in Environmental Engineering interested in the intersection of engineering and policy, motivated by concerns of climate change compounding challenges of inequity in water and sanitation access. She completed her B.S. in Environmental Engineering at the University of Florida, and an M.S. in Civil/Environmental Engineering and Master of Public Policy at the University of California, Berkeley. Her master’s research focused on solutions to air pollution from crop burning, green bond financing for sustainable infrastructure, and innovative waste management policies. Prior to beginning her research with CU Boulder, Kathleen served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Cameroon, managed a sanitation project for SEED Madagascar, and worked as a Research Fellow for Engineering for Change.
