Chantal holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering and a Graduate Certificate in Global Engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Chantal is passionate about reducing inequalities in access to services, resources, opportunities and improving human welfare, the environment, and economies globally.

With implementation, policy, and research experience in international development practice, Chantal strives to leverage advances in ICT and systemic research to bring about meaningful progress towards universal access to essential human services, including safe drinking water and clean household energy. Before joining the Mortenson Center in Global Engineering, Chantal worked as an Operations and Maintenance Coordinator for over 500 water infrastructure projects in Rwanda, served on the Rwanda Standards Board water committee, worked as a Consultant for the World Bank within the Water Global Practice, and served as a mentor for undergraduate students through YOU'RE @ CU program, and a peer mentor for new Ph.D. students within the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences at CU Boulder. Chantal’s favorite pastimes in Colorado include skiing in the Rockies and hiking around Boulder. 

Chantal holds a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and Environmental Technology from the University of Rwanda, and a Master's degree in Environmental Engineering from Portland State University in Oregon.
