Will Roger Peterson

Will Roger Peterson started working in photography in 1970 at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). Prior to that, his education included a degree in analytical chemistry. He served almost 20 years at RIT, working variously as a photo chemist, administrator, associate professor, and assistant director. Always a student, Roger acquired subsequent degrees in both Art and Education. In 1991 He moved to California to begin a career as a portrait artist. Soon thereafter, the digital camera became mainstream and put many traditional photographers out of business. Through one of the original organizers, Crimson Rose (now his life partner), Roger got involved with the Burning Man Project in 1994. In 1997, he became one of the founders of Black Rock City LLC, which produces the annual Burning Man Event on the Black Rock Desert in Northern Nevada. Through this activity, he developed a heartfelt relationship with the High Desert, and now splits his time between the San Francisco Bay Area and the Black Rock Desert region. Roger continues to photograph flowers (digitally) and once a year takes aerial images of Black Rock City.
