Sam currently works in corporate strategy for Summit Utilities in Littleton, CO where she focuses on business development, M&A, and natural gas trends. She developed an interest in non-profit boards when she completed the El Pomar Fellowship in Colorado Springs, CO, which is a two-year professional and leadership development program. She has also previously worked in renewable energy consulting with Natural Power Consultants in Dalry, Scotland and natural gas analytics with Bentek Energy in Denver, CO.

Sam was raised on a cattle ranch in the Wet Mountain Valley in south-central Colorado and is a fourth-generation Colorado native. She graduated from Middlebury College in Vermont and has a MS in Mineral and Energy Economics from Colorado School of Mines, as well as a MS in Applied Carbon Management from the University of Glasgow in Scotland.

Sam and her husband, Niall, live in Evergreen, CO. She enjoys skiing, riding horses, running, and traveling.
