To the CU Boulder community:
In the coming weeks, the U.S. Supreme Court is expected to issue rulings on the use of race in college admissions, how businesses may interact with LGBTQ+ customers, and student loan relief, among other decisions.
These issues are among the most significant and divisive across our nation, and the court’s decisions are likely to have far-reaching impacts on higher education and the broader society, including on many members of the campus community––especially students, staff and faculty of color, the LGBTQ+ communities, and others with minoritized identities.
Be assured that CU Boulder supports and stands with those whose rights have been under attack. Our commitment to equity and inclusion will not waver, regardless of the decisions that come.
In many states this year we have seen a spate of anti-LGBTQ+ legislation and measures that attack higher education’s mission to advance diversity, equity and inclusion. I urge all members of our community to take care of yourselves and others during this tumultuous time and to access campus resources as needed.
As we continue to navigate these challenges and others on the horizon, I am confident that, working together, we will continue to do what is in the best interest of our campus, our state and our nation.
Sincerely,
Philip DiStefano
Chancellor
