Ten graduating seniors from the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering earned Graduating Student Awards from the College of Engineering and Applied Science this year and shared their thoughts about their experiences at CU Boulder.

“These students are so impressive in so many ways,” said Teaching Professor and Associate Chair Wendy Young. “Their accomplishments in academics, research and social advocacy have made our department, college and community richer.”

Nominated by faculty, staff or their fellow students, this year's winners have plans as diverse as their academic and social accomplishments — from pursuing a PhD to applying to medical school to being employed as an engineer. Almost all the students said how difficult it was to learn remotely during the pandemic and how they missed interacting with students and faculty during that time. Many also talked about the importance of joining organizations and clubs and about reaching out beyond their comfort zones.

The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering will celebrate graduation on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at 12 p.m.
