Jamie Skerski earned a PhD in communication and culture from Indiana University in 2005, where she focused on the intersection of gender, media and rhetoric.

She has been the course director for Public Speaking since 2011 and also teaches courses about discourse and identity, rhetorical criticism and communication and sport. Her most recent research project investigates discourses around the contemporary tomboy.
