Julia Dean

Julia Dean is a first-year PhD student co-advised by Amy Voida and Bryan Semaan. Her research is focused on the digital landscape for immigrants and refugees in the United States, the role of digital identity to societal newcomers, and critical HCI. Prior to starting graduate school, Julia received a dual undergraduate degree in International Affairs and Spanish/Portuguese. She's also worked for nonprofits and technology startups for years before attending CU. In her free time, you can find Julia trail running, skiing, gravel biking or hanging out with her dogs!
