Helen Driesen
Master's Student
Journalism

Helen Driesen is originally from Pelham, NY, and earned her BA in Political Science and Jazz Studies at the University of Vermont in 2019. During her time at UVM, she served as the Deputy Director of a campaign for Vermont's lone U.S. House of Representatives seat, played in various bands around Burlington, and directed UVM ZEST, a gender inclusive a cappella group.

After graduating, Helen moved to New York City and started freelancing as a production assistant with the goal of eventually working in broadcast news. Since deciding to move to Denver mid-COVID, she has worked as an organizer for New Era Colorado and as a radio intern for the Open Media Foundation. With interest in politics, arts, travel, and culture, Helen is now pursuing a master’s degree in journalism at CU Boulder.

In her spare time, Helen can be found performing at open mics, writing music, climbing, cooking, petting dogs, and exploring all of the beauty Colorado has to offer before she graduates and inevitably moves back to dirty old Manhattan.
