Darren Winograd
Doctoral Psychology Intern • BA, MA

Darren is a current predoctoral intern at CAPS and originally from Los Angeles, California. He is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Counseling Psychology at the University at Albany in upstate New York, and also holds a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from California State University, Northridge. Thus far, Darren has worked in community counseling, college counseling and integrated care settings.

Darren loves to work with clients presenting with any number of concerns and has specifically developed skills in working with folks experiencing medical concerns, caregiving, familial conflict, identity concerns and relationship concerns. Darren takes a relational and systems approach to his work, with specific focus placed on cultural factors, trauma and identity. He also works to acknowledge that everyone entering therapy is doing the best they can to manage their concerns, and that sometimes looking for extra support is the next step in our mental health journey. He strongly values creating a space which honors every client’s authentic self, where they are in life and what they are hoping to achieve in therapy. Darren works with intentionality to create a therapy space which prioritizes the therapeutic relationship.

In his free time, Darren enjoys spending time with friends, going for runs, and being in nature.
