Shane Trujillo

Shane is excited to join CAPS as an advanced psychology practicum student while completing his PhD in Counseling Psychology at the University of Denver. He has previously worked in community mental health and carceral settings where he led therapeutic groups focused on trauma, substance use and healthy relationships while also offering individual psychotherapy. He has been involved in research projects that explore sexual satisfaction, minority stress and ethnosexual identity. Shane is particularly interested in the connections between sexual health, relational intimacy and mental health outcomes.

Ultimately, Shane believes that therapy can be challenging but it can also be joyful and life-affirming. He looks forward to working with the CU Boulder community and always strives to center his therapeutic practice around authenticity, warmth and collaboration. He utilizes an integrative approach that honors lived experience and emphasizes building meaningful skills and self-understanding.
