Rachel Sigman is an assistant professor of democratic governance at the Josef Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver and a project manager with the Varieties of Democracy (V-Dem) Institute based at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden. In her first book, Parties, Political Finance, and Governance in Africa (Cambridge University Press, 2023), Sigman explains how political money shapes government performance in Africa. Sigman's other work examines a range of topics related to democratic backsliding, state building, the effects of natural resource extraction on governance and U.S. influence in Africa.
