Our project is to design a mesh of optical fibers that is conscious of its own state. This mesh will be able to sense changes in its shape, temperature, and strain and then display this data on a monitor. This technology can be used to give robots a sensitive touch, to create wings that can adapt to their current environment and change shape, and to check the temperature of hard to reach places.
