The Fab Five team at the Engineering Projects Expo

The Fab Five: Tia Basak, Mallory Hoover, Kayla Kloster, Daniel Morrison, Jon Wingfield

iRoboCar is a team-initiated product created by the Fab Five, composed of members: Kayla Kloster, Mallory Hoover, Daniel Morrison, Jon Wingfield, and Tia Basak. iRoboCar is an educational toy geared towards children to increase interest in the STEM field. The STEM field has and is still becoming a huge part of society in which all children should have the basic knowledge, even if they will not pursue it in their future.  As a toy, its main purpose is entertainment, but can also double as a means to increase engineering skills in children and adults. iRoboCar is an RC car that includes many features.

Both adults and children will love iRoboCar. It may serve as simply a fun toy for some users, while the curious may use it as a launch pad to build their own projects which mimic it or interact with it. Parents will immediately recognize the product as a better use of their children’s time than video games or television.

The features include an iPhone app that comes with the car to provide an extra level of entertainment. The iPhone car will interface with iRoboCar to provide facilities such as a Adventure mode, where the user can experience a live stream video, being able to take the car on many adventures. There is also a programmable feature on the app, that lets users experience coding with drag and drop blocks that will control the car. There are two levels of coding, a beginner and intermediate level, which caters to coders of all levels. The iRoboCar also has an information page for users to learn more about how the electronics used in iRoboCar work. In Manual mode, the user can drive the car using controls on the app, and the user will be able to see basic real time data from the car.
