On April 14, the School of Education at CU Boulder will host a virtual gathering of Ed Talks. Inspired by TED Talks, these short talks will explore the theme of political courage, including book censorship, gender and sexual diversity in schools, institutional violence, and the personal and powerful battles for inclusive higher education and STEM opportunities.

The Assembly Issue 4: Educators Moving Towards Collective Liberation

The latest issue of the Assembly, an open-access, peer-reviewed, online publication edited by School of Education doctoral students, is called "Educators Moving Towards Collective Liberation." It features a multimodal collection of reflections by educator-scholars who attended the Educator Institute for Equity and Justice hosted by A Queer Endeavor last summer.

Laure-Elena Porras Holguin

Magna cum laude graduate inspired by family, immigrant experience

COVID-19 will be top of mind for Laura-Elena Porras-Holguin when she graduates. The virus deeply impacted her family but also motivated her to finish her senior thesis and solidified her desire to pursue a master’s degree in public health. Porras-Holguin is a magna cum laude CU Boulder graduate, who was also a Multicultural Leadership Scholar and research assistant for the Research Hub for Youth Organizing, both housed in the School of Education.

Association for Moral Education selects Matt Hastings for dissertation award

Recent alumnus Matt Hastings (PhDEDU'20) has been selected for the Association for Moral Education's Kuhmerker Dissertation Award. Hastings was honored for the award at the virtual 47th AME annual conference held Nov. 3-7, where he also led a talk on his dissertation, "Left to Our Own Devices: Education and Attention for a Digital Age."
