Tuesday, July 18, Discovery Learning Center (DLC)

This full-day, in-person orientation is for new staff members in the College of Engineering and Applied Science who started after the last orientation on March 14.

Invitations have been sent to new CEAS staff members and those who were previously eligible but unable to attend a past orientation. If you did not receive an invitation but believe you are eligible to attend (or if you know someone that fits this description), please reach out to angela.eberhardt@colorado.edu for more information.

FY 2023-24 funding applications now open!
Requests may be submitted at any time. Staff members should discuss the request and cost-share with their supervisors before applying; procedures may vary across units.

For full consideration, requests should be submitted at least two weeks before the professional development registration deadline or payment due date. Requests for funds are approved on a first-come, first-served basis per fiscal year (July 1-June 30).

All CEAS employees and affiliates are required to successfully complete the Skillsoft trainings listed below, per the CU Boulder Discrimination & Harassment Policy and the CU Boulder Ethics & Compliance Plan Policy.

Wondering if you’re currently in compliance? Our CEAS HR team regularly conducts audits of training requirements and will contact anyone who still needs to complete any training. We will also follow up with unit HR leads regarding employees and affiliates who are currently out of compliance with these requirements. Patrick Maguire is honored for his service to Idea Forge and for his dedication to the CEAS hands-on teaching mission. Patrick has tirelessly served students in the areas of electronics, sensors, PCB layout and creation, controls and rapid prototyping (just to name a few). We recognize Patrick for creating new systems for running course laboratories, developing innovative curriculum for two upper division classes, as well as reaching the Idea Forge’s highest rapid prototyping production numbers. Additionally, Patrick is always ready to offer his support to anyone, whether that be a student with a question or a colleague in need. Thank you, Pat!

This training is focused on understanding the potential inequities in participating in virtual meetings. Participants with the knowledge and skills for making virtual meetings inclusive.

Wednesday, July 26, 1-2 p.m., CASE W313
Learn common signs of burnout and compassion fatigue, including compassion vulnerability factors. This workshop will introduce tools to support compassion fatigue resiliency.

Need help getting your team to work more cohesively in a hybrid environment? Learn skills and strategies to take personal responsibility and agency for their workplace needs, accountability and engagement.

Saturday, July 15. 10:15 a.m.-3:15 p.m., The Rec Center
This six-hour course covers everything from burns and broken bones to choking and heart attacks. This course also includes adult, infant and junior CPR and AED training.

CU Health Plan enrollees have some important plot developments to catch up on for the new plan year, which began July 1.

Free access for Buff OneCard holders from now through Wednesday, August 2. Guests and visitors may pay a small fee for entrance.

All classes will be held in the Mind Body Studio. No previous experience necessary, classes are in all levels of yoga format. Registration required.

Join Dr. Kimberlye Dean, clinical development lead at Big Health, makers of Sleepio, for a webinar designed to spread awareness of the specific challenges that black, indigenous and people of color (BIPOC) communities face when it comes to mental health. Better understanding how racial identities impact mental health can help everyone foster a healthier and more welcoming workplace.

Participants are introduced to risk factors and warning signs, engage in experiential activities, discuss relevant professional and self-help resources, and learn a 5-step strategy to provide support. Mental Health First Aid training helps a person with no clinical training assist someone experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge or crisis.
