Over winter break, Dean Keith Molenaar worked to synthesize all of the valuable input and perspectives you shared during the strategic planning workshops. On Jan. 13, we will reconvene to report on progress and discuss next steps for departments and units. Keith will also recognize college award winners and provide a general "state of the college" update.

OIT’s phone transition project is moving our phone system to Microsoft Teams. Teams Calls will become the supported phone system solution for the CU Boulder. This transition is another step in leveraging the University of Colorado’s strategic investment in Microsoft solutions.

The University of Colorado Social Justice Summit aspires to ignite critical engagement and responsibility for cultivating and sustaining a diverse democracy. This year’s theme is Operationalizing Liberation for a Diverse Democracy, which is a call to action to disrupt behaviors and oppressive actions, structures and systems preventing our collective liberation. Get ready to heat things up with our 6th Annual CEAS Chili Cook-Off! Put your hottest chili recipe to the test for a chance at some zesty prices or just plan to bring yourself to this event and join the festivities that will sizzle your taste buds. Colorado’s Paid Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FAMLI) program will provide all Colorado workers a portion of their weekly salary for up to 12 weeks of leave to care for themselves or their families, with an additional four weeks of leave for pregnancy or childbirth complications. Colorado employers and employees will begin paying premiums for FAMLI starting Jan. 1, with benefits beginning in 2024. For even more details check out the Employee Services’ website.

Lauren Darling, ITL Product Design and Instrumentation Engineer - December 2022

The ITL Program nominates Lauren Darling for the December 2022 Employee Recognition Award. Lauren has shown an unparalleled dedication to serving students. She has led our engineering team in multiple technical contents areas which include Arduino, Soldering, and ECAD which consisted of over 100 workshops serving nearly 1000 students this semester. This semester has seen a large increase in students requiring electronics support, and Lauren has provided that regardless of staffing shortages on the team. Lauren has taken a key role in multiple new initiatives such as leading the development of a PCB internship and planning the launch of cutting-edge additive circuit manufacturing equipment, in partnership with faculty in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. Thank you for always putting students first, Lauren!

The Employee Management and Compliance Essentials course provides a comprehensive overview for managers and supervisors of legal guidelines, campus policies, and CU-Boulder practices related to employee management and development. Anyone who supervises should attend this program.

The annual mid-cycle period for CU’s university staff performance reviews is fast approaching, and it’s an opportunity for supervisors to improve their relationship with their direct reports. LinkedIn Learning has created a collection of courses to help supervisors navigate the performance review process intentionally and cooperatively.

The Office of First-Generation Programs and Enrichment within the Center for Inclusion and Social Change (CISC) is proud to present the First-Generation Faculty and Staff Directory. As part of CU Boulder’s commitment to support first-generation students both in and out of the classroom, our office is leading the effort to compile and maintain an updated list of faculty and staff who are the first in their families to go to college. Additionally, you will find allies of the first-generation community who may not be first-generation but strive to intentionally support this amazing population at CU Boulder.

As part of CU’s mission to create a culture of wellness on campus, Health and Wellness Services is now offering AcademicLiveCare (ALC) to staff and faculty to support their physical, emotional and mental health.

The Faculty & Staff Assistance Program (FSAP) is dedicated to serving the emotional and psychological needs of the campus community. Through this Inclusive Rec program, we hope to foster community, mindfulness and authenticity. This yoga class will turn stress into sweat as we move through yoga postures and meditative breathing exercises. No registration required.
