Overview:

This position reports to the Assistant Dean of Access, Inclusion, and Student Programs in the College of Engineering and Applied Science and serves as a clerical/administrative assistant. The position will collaborate with professional staff on student success initiatives and programming activities ranging from coordinating activities, creating presentations, researching educational topics, and answering general inquiries, to performing data entry functions.

Description:

We are looking for a self-confident and eager-to-learn individual. The successful candidate must be dependable, motivated, and detail oriented. They must be comfortable and have the patience to converse with people of various cultures and backgrounds in person, by telephone and through emails. Typing/keyboarding skills and familiarity with Windows operating system and standard computer application software (specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) is a requirement.

Specifically, the graduate intern will assist within these areas of responsibility:

  • Coordinate and attend student events, workshops, and local tours of labs and businesses.
  • Interface with college and campus offices and departments to enhance graduate student success initiatives.
  • Conduct research, summarize educational topics, and create PowerPoint presentations.
  • Create and maintain electronic files of student data.
  • Respond to emails sent to the LSAMP BD general email account.
  • Perform general office work and help with special assignments and projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a higher education setting.
  • Experience working with university students.

Compensation:

  • This is an hourly paid position with a requirement to commit to one year (fall 2023-spring 2024) with potential to continue based on the applicant’s program graduation date and funding.
  • Flexible work hours (design your work schedule around your classes).
  • Pay range per hour is $18, commensurate with experience, with up to 15 hours per week. Hours may vary week to week depending on workload.
  • Must reside in the state of Colorado.
  • These positions have the potential for hybrid work (remote and in person).
