Graduating senior Katelynn Thammavong (ChemBioEngr '22) has been recognized with a Community Impact award for her work to connect and empower Asian-heritage STEM students and disrupt anti-Asian racism during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Integrated Teaching & Learning Program launched the first micro-credential that focuses on technical content. The new Arduino micro-credential program will serve students looking to improve their proficiency with Arduino microcontrollers.

The air quality study, led by mechanical engineering PhD candidate Aniya Khalili, aims to inspire the community to lead cleaner lifestyles and promote further research on pesticide exposure.

The Colorado Engineering Council selected Jenna Nielson, a senior majoring in chemical and biological engineering, as this year’s Silver Medal Award recipient. The Silver Medal Award is one of the highest honors an engineering student in Colorado can receive. Nielson also earned an Academic Engagement Award this semester.

Cyrus Haas is the Outstanding Undergraduate of the College for the 2021-2022 academic year and a recipient of a Research Award for his work with the Whitehead Research Group.

With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and the uncertainty of international travel, Mortenson Center graduate student Britta Bergstrom pivoted her field-based practicum in Tanzania to a community-engaged garden in her home state.

Computer science professor Dan Larremore has won the Alan T. Waterman Award for his instrumental research on COVID-19 vaccine distribution and rapid testing. The prestigious award is the National Science Foundation’s highest honor for early-career scientists.

Lucky Vidmar (CompSci'94; M'97) is working to empower ethics-focused engineers and honor his friend and mentor through the Moulakis Lecture Series within the Herbst Program for Engineering, Ethics & Society.

Will Medlin is a Denver Business Challenge Endowed Professor and the Department Chair for Chemical and Biological Engineering. His research group investigates reactions for renewable and sustainable energy applications, and particularly focuses on interfacial chemistry important in the conversion of biomass to fuels and chemicals.
