Several of our distinguished GoldShirt Scholars from CU Boulder made their way to Atlanta, Ga., to participate in the 50th National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) national conference. This prestigious event, held at the expansive Georgia World Congress Center, served as a beacon of opportunity, learning and networking for aspiring engineers across the nation.
Among our proud students were key members of the CU Boulder chapter of NSBE's leadership board, who took on the role of mentors and guides for the underclassmen. This year’s conference was especially memorable as it not only marked half a century of NSBE’s invaluable contributions to engineering and community building but also highlighted the exceptional individuals within our own ranks who are leading the way forward.
Tony House, Betah Christian, Abraham Bitew and Nathan Mukobah are esteemed leaders and graduating seniors within our GoldShirt community and the NSBE chapter, stood out for their exceptional mentorship. They took under their wings those scholars attending their first job convention, providing them not just with guidance but with a pathway to meaningful internships and growth. Their efforts underscore the Goldshirt program's commitment to nurturing future leaders who are not only academically proficient but also deeply invested in uplifting others.
As we celebrate the achievements of Tony, Betah, Abraham and Nathan and all our GoldShirt Scholars who represented CU Boulder with distinction at the NSBE national conference, we are reminded of the power of mentorship, the importance of community, and the endless possibilities that arise when we come together to support one another's aspirations.
The GoldShirt Program is immensely proud of their achievements and looks forward to continuing to support our scholars as they pave the way for a brighter, more inclusive future in engineering.
