Colby Juarez
Leadership and Scholarship Program Manager • Pronouns: They/Them

I’m Colby Juarez and I was born in Southern California. So far, I have lived and worked at universities near Los Angeles, CA; Seattle, WA; Boston, MA; Boulder, CO. Each of these have been a great adventure but I’ll never forget my roots as a first-generation college student born of immigrant parents. In fact, my first language was Spanish, and I still speak it now. I am also non-binary, Hispanic and queer. I hope to instill a sense of curiosity and care into all the work that I do so that I can support students navigate the college landscape.

In my work as a Program Manager for Leadership and Scholarship in the BOLD Center, I want to support scholarship students, student societies and anyone else who may come into our center to do the best they can in the field of engineering. I actively collaborate with the student societies around conference travel, creating and advertising society events and teaching them how to become professionals. For scholarship specifically, I help scholars navigate requirements, engage in engaging conversations around wellness, academics and success strategies and ultimately provide financial support to students in CEAS.

I enjoy working in the BOLD center because I love making a difference in students lives and I hope to be able to humanize bureaucracy and university processes that can often be impersonal. The BOLD Center offers a lot in terms of community and connection so I work every day to help be one of the people that students can feel care about them and that they can connect to.
