BK Clapham is a PhD candidate specializing in global modernist and contemporary ethnic literatures, with an emphasis on queer of color approaches to medical humanities, critical media practices, and the history of HIV and AIDS in the protease-era. Their dissertation project draws on visual culture, poetry, contemporary news media, documentary film, and colonial archives to explore HIV as both subject matter and identity formation in the contemporary moment. Clapham holds a BA in Ethnic Studies from The University of Texas at Austin and an MA in Journalism from City University of New York.
